Fresh snowfall of 4 inch in Gulmarg, Dry Weather Predicted Today in J&K Many parts of kashmir valley receives fresh snowfall & light rains although metereological department on Tuesday forecast dry weather in Jammu and Kashmir.

A weather agency official here said the upper reaches, including Gulmarg, have received fresh snow, with the world-famous ski resort recording 10cm (4 inches) overnight through 8:30am today.

He said that while Srinagar had traces of precipitation during this period, Qazigund recorded 4.3 mm, Pahalgam 4.3 mm, Kupwara 7.6 mm, Kokernag 4.2mm, Banihal 0.6mm, Batote 0.2mm and Bhadarwah 1.4mm. In terms of temperature, he said, Srinagar recorded a low of 5.0°C compared to 5.3°C the night before. Today's minimum temperature is 4.1C above normal for the summer capital, he said.

Qazigund, he said, recorded a low of 4.7°C compared to 3.7°C the night before and was 4.8°C above normal for Gateway City Kashmir. Pahalgam, he said, registered a low of 0.8C versus minus 1C.7°C the night before and 4.8°C above normal in the famous tourist resort of Anantnag in South Kashmir. Kokernag recorded a minimum temperature of 3.7C, the same as the night before and 4.4C above normal for the site, officials said.

Gulmarg registered a low of -3.5C compared to 0.2C the night before and was 3.2C above normal for the world-famous ski resort in north Kashmir's Baramulla district, he said.

In the town of Kupwara, he said, the mercury stabilized at 3.1°C compared to 4.5°C the night before and it was 3.4°C above normal for northern Kashmir. Jammu registered a minimum of 13.7°C versus 15.5°C the night before. It's 3.1C above normal for J&K's winter capital, it said.

Banihal, he said, registered a minimum of 6.2°C (above normal by 5.0 °C), Batote 7.6 °C (4.1 °C above normal), Katra 11.7 °C (3.2 °C above normal) and Bhadarwah 4.7°C (4.1°C above normal). Ladakh's Leh recorded a low of minus 5.6C, the official said.

The MeT has forecast mostly clear weather for the next 24 hours in most locations. For February 22-25, the official said, mostly clear to partly cloudy weather is expected in most locations.

Sonmarg received more than 7cm of snowfalls.. and temperature range from 2 to -3 approx.
